What is labor day? International workers day or May day is celebrated for honoring the struggles of working class and efforts of labor unions. It is the special day to celebrate for achievement of workers and is considered as a annual public holiday in many countries.
Who invented labor day?
peter J.Mc Guire a carpenter and labor union leader. He was the person who came up with the idea of worker day. He thought that American workers should be honored for their efforts and struggles. so he decided to dedicate a day to them. Later he intimated the same to Newyorks Central labor union in 1882 and they thought that it is the good idea of honoring. So then the idea came in to existence.
Why labor day important:
- At the time of industrialization labor union has raised the movement mobility.
- All industrialists exploited the labor class and forces to work up to 15 hours a day.
- At last union has taken its courage to unite and raise their voice on May day.
- This was mainly started because of unfair treatments, not giving proper wages and no leaves.

May day in India:
First may day in India is celebrated in madras (now Chennai) by kisan party of Hindustan on May 1, 1923.This is also the time of Red flag ( The May day’s symbol used since its foundation)
